The term Pecuniary originated from the Latin pecuniarius meaning
“pertaining to money” which is derived from the term pecu. “Pecu” literally means “cattle, flock” or ” wealth, movable property, livestock”

In The ancient Roman world, and in other cultures, cattle and livestock was the wealth of the people. The term pecunia directly translates to “wealth in cattle”. This was their treasure and wealth: farmers could use their oxen to plow more fields and yield additional crops and accumulate wealth, or what is now known as capital.
